Aranzazu Sanctuary

The Aranzazu Sanctuary rises above a great ravine surrounded by an overwhelming landscape that leaves its visitors stunned. On the outskirts of Oñati, it has become a place of pilgrimage and devotion as well as an exponent of Basque religious art and culture.  It is one of the three churches that form the Ignatian Way (the ‘Camino Ignaciano’).

The sanctuary’s unique and unmissable collection of artistic works include façade’s 14 apostles sculpted by Jorge Orieza; the iron doors by Eduardo Chillida, and paintings by Nestor Basterrestxea y Lucio Muñoz.
