The Apozaga Cementery
In the outskirts of Eskoriatza, on a gentle hill, overlooking the valley, lies this unique cemetery. Its circular shape recalls the ‘cromlech’ of the Iron Age. The perimeter is divided into 20 plots or sepulchral spaces, one for each house that forms the neighbourhood of Apozaga.
The Apozaga Cemetery could be a milestone in the funereal architecture of our country, a touch of attention for the recuperation of an art and some centuries-old customs that had been lost.
