I’m Mikel, graduated in Psychology, I was born in Aretxabaleta and I’m a friendly, approachable, genuine kind of guy.
After spending more than 15 years living away from the Basque Country – first in London, then in Scotland, then for the last 10 years in Madrid – I decided to start this new project in the place I was born, close to my family and friends.
The years that I spent living elsewhere have helped me to see my country differently, as if from outside, but still with the affection and love that I have for my homeland. It’s like being a ‘local foreigner’. So wherever you’re from and whoever you are, I’m sure I can put myself in your shoes and introduce you to the joys of this country however you want to enjoy it.
As well as Spanish, I speak Basque and English, and some French, so I’ll be more than happy to help make communication easier for you during your stay at Areano.
I love sport and being in touch with nature, and most of all I’m passionate about travel. I’ve always been a tourist, but now that life had brought me back home, and with a different outlook, I’m the one welcoming visitors, tourists from around the world and friends old and new who want to visit the wonderful land that is Euskadi.
Everything is ready for your visit, and I’m sure it won’t be your last.
We’re waiting for you!
